About the department

·      Thedepartment of Zoology was established in year 1989 at UG Level.

·      Thedepartment presently caters about 300 UG students.

·      The PG Zoology course was introduced in the year 2021.The department presently catersabout 115 PG students.

·      Thedepartment helps to train students to respond to the global challenges and theneeds of the Indian society in particular, through education in the areas ofGeneral Biology, Invertebrate and Vertebrate Zoology; Animal DevelopmentalBiology, Genetics, Evolutionary biology, Reproductive Biology and GeneralPhysiology

·      Activelearning strategies such as student” club, guest lectures, group discussions,e-assignments, presentations and webinars are emphasized.

·      Departmentorganises certificate courses for UG and PG students.

·      Departmenthas Student council which organize various cocurricular activities regularly.

·      Department has 6 qualified teachingfaculties and one lab technician.

·      E content for MP higher education isdeveloped by faculty.

Objectives

  • To facilitate higher education and research in Zoology.
  • To provide quality education in offering skill based programs and motivate the students for self employment in applied branches in Zoology.
  • To provide students with a working knowledge of fundamental principles in zoology that will provide a foundation for their later advanced course work in more specific biological subjects.
  • To provide students familiarity with animal classification schemes and associated taxonomic group  diagnostic characteristics as well as to develop an understanding and ability to apply basic zoological principles.
  • The laboratory and lecture sections of the course are highly  integrated and directed toward teaching students the principles of  animal evolution, classification, form and function.
  • To equip students with adequate practical knowledge that will enable them be self-reliant and pioneers in the field of apiculture, aquaculture and sericulture.
